The Unfolding
The word awakening often points to something sudden, dramatic, or once-in-a-lifetime. But here, it has been less about one grand event and more about layer after layer peeling back, each one revealing itself, asking to be seen not from the mind, but from the zoomed-out perspective of awareness.
There was, however, a clear turning point.
It happened on an ordinary drive home from hot yoga. The body was tired, the day was quiet, and then—without effort—everything shifted. For the first time, there was no “Kate.” No identity. No story. Just pure beingness. Presence filled the whole moment. Tears came, not from sadness or thought, but as if life itself was washing through.
That moment didn’t vanish after a breath. It remained for almost a month, holding everything in a depth of stillness I had never known. Each sound, each movement, each breath was steeped in presence. Nothing needed to be added. Nothing was missing.
From there, awareness began guiding everything. Life itself became the teacher. Situations would arise—an emotion, a tension, a moment between Matty and me—and instead of spiraling in story, awareness would meet it. And once it was seen, it would fall away. The holding dissolved.
It became clear that awareness was moving through Kate. Not as something she “had” or “owned,” but as the space that saw through her patterns. Awareness began showing the stories that had been clung to for years—the insecurities, the identities, the roles—and revealed them for what they were: stories. And once seen, they no longer had the same weight.
The more awareness moved in this way, the more it became possible to sense it in others. By simply listening, awareness could feel the stories people were holding, the characters they were playing, the identities they were identified with. It wasn’t about judgment—it was simply clear: beneath all of it, awareness is here too.
Since March, this has been the unfolding. Layer after layer asking to be seen, dissolved, integrated. Sometimes gently, sometimes fiercely. Always returning to the same truth: awareness is what allows it all.
Awakening here has not meant escaping life or transcending the human story. It has meant seeing life through a new lens—the zoomed-out perspective where everything is included. The body, the emotions, the mind, the relationships, the ordinary moments of motherhood and partnership—all of it is part of the same field. Nothing is outside of awareness.
This is where Earthly Souls has grown from. Not from a desire to “teach” or to hold a special gift, but as a natural expression of awareness through this life.
Awareness expresses here in many ways: through words, through voice, through the collective field, and through the intimacy of sitting together.
